There are 40 thousand skip-generation families in Hong Kong (HKBU, 2010). Many of the grandparents-as-parents in these families are under high stress.

 

Because of this, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong is funded by the Lee Kum Kee Family Foundation. In October 2018, a one-year project of "Grand Support – Support Service for Grandparents & Community" will be launched. Through Grand Club, workshops and other programmes, to further strengthen grandparents' confidence and establish a network of peers so that they can get mutual support and positive change. 

Besides, practical wisdom is accumulated in the project and shall be shared among the field of social welfare and the general public by publication and short film. Awareness of the issue will be raised and hence attract more supports.
